📢 Class Title: Blue Jean Feathers: Turning Worn Denim into Artful Adornment
🦉 Instructor: Amy Jarvis with A Lemon Academy
📅 Date/Time: Thursday, May 7th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
🏫 Location: NBA&I Center for Creativity, 1533 Bendigo Blvd North, North Bend, WA
💰 Price: $25
🧠 What You'll Learn: There’s something quietly poetic about giving old blue jeans a second life—and in this hands-on workshop, we’ll do just that by transforming denim into beautifully textured blue jean feathers. With a bit of cutting, fraying, layering, and gentle shaping, humble fabric becomes something light, expressive, and full of movement. These feathers can be worn, gifted, or displayed—each one carrying its own story stitched in.
Amy will guide you step by step through the process, sharing tips for working with denim grain, creating soft feathered edges, and adding just the right amount of detail for a finished, artful piece.
We’ll finish by embellishing with beads and hardware, turning each feather into a small statement of creativity and reuse.
🧩 Skill Level/Age Range: Beginner / 11+
📃 Student Instructions: Please bring scissors and a pen/pencil, that's it! You’ll leave with one (or 2) completed blue jean feathers and, as always at A Lemon Academy, a reminder that creativity often begins by seeing familiar materials in a brand-new way.
🔨Materials Needed: All supplies are provided for two jean feathers, including denim, needles, embroidery thread, beads, and accessory clip hardware. Students should bring scissors, a writing implement, your curiosity, and willingness to play.
